| In the early 1990s Punch entered the Scandinavian market with the purchase of the shoe care division of Bostik A.B. acquiring the number one shoe care brand “Boston”.
In 1911 the company started its factory in Helsingborg, Sweden and the Boston brand has remained market leader in shoe care ever since. The foundation stones for the Boston success go as far back as 1892 to Boston, USA, when “cold polish blacking” was created. This was a premium product with superior qualities. The Boston Blacking Company, as the company was originally known, became the symbol of American style and English aristocracy.
The 1910’s and 1920’s proved to be a successful growth period for the company and it was in the 1930’s that Boston started to produce shoe cream specifically for the consumer market.
The now familiar Boston terrier was introduced in 1935 to symbolise the Boston brand characteristics of excellent behaviour and manners - Boston terriers, being known for their intelligence, would obviously choose the best product!
In 1994, Boston Shoe Care joined forces with Punch Industries Ltd. Innovation is a fundamental part of the philosophy of both Punch Industries and Boston and is seen as the key to maintaining the leading positions within world markets.
Boston shoe care continues to be the market leader in Scandinavia and 2004 sees the redesign of the product range with the new Boston Exclusive and Boston Specialist ranges. These ranges consist of traditional shoe cream products as well as a range of protection and repair products. The new Boston designs and packaging styles offer consumers elegant, modern and convenient products. The company has come a long way since 1911 but one characteristic remains the same: the quality of Boston Shoe Care is as high as it has always been.
The Boston Specialist range is available in all grocery retail outlets in Sweden and a selection of specialist shoe stores in the UK.
Boston Exclusive products are available in shoe stores in Scandinavian and Balticum countries. |
